God's Gift of Eternity

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Within each person is the hope of eternity. We can't understand this wonderful world; it is really too big for us, yet its satisfactions are often too small.
Life changes and we have little control over it. We work hard and try to be successful, but even when we get what we think we want, we feel like there's something missing. With eternity in our hearts, the things of Earth cannot fully or permanently bring us satisfaction. Therefore, we live in the hope of God's sovereign plan. When we turn to Him, we discover that life has meaning, and we find genuine pleasure only in Him. Without Him in our lives, there is hopelessness and dissatisfaction. Frustration plagues us when our attitude and sense of purpose are not rooted in faith in God. But with Him, everything is different. Our goals and priorities change. The gift of eternity in our hearts gives us a spiritual thirst. We long to know more about
His eternal values and we rejoice in the understanding that we are citizens of His kingdom.

The perfect world can only be realized in eternity with Him. For now, we trust Him to do His work on Earth and allow us to be part of it.
